Ever wondered what you can find at The Barras Market? Running since 1921, the indoor market, located on the East End of Glasgow, is the spot to find anything and everything.

The market is personally awarded by me, the best place to find vintage fashion, records, and artwork in the city.

The grounds home over 100 traders, selling various brick-a-brack and goods.

I went down on a Saturday afternoon to get some scran, a chat, and a rummage.

First, Anxious Pete’s Pizza, a joint I found on Instagram. It was bloody beautiful, hit the spot for sure. One huge slice of New York style pizza, you can not beat it.

I had to check out some of the vintage stalls. I found some patriotic tartan trousers for a tenner, score. The stall vendor talked to me about how she used to wear them all the time, back in the day when she was a punk. Safe to say it convinced me to buy them. She was wearing a long black trench coat and a paper boy hat, you could tell she had some good stories from back then.

Afterwards, I went for a walk round about the shops near by. Feeling inspired, I stopped by Blitzkrieg the record store. That spot is quality for finding punk records, but man is there too much temptation to resist. I was shocked to find some Fugazi LPs, its pretty hard to find their albums in the UK. The shop owner, Tony, seemed chuffed that I was excited to find them too, rushing over to let me know they just came in last week.

We got chatting about bands, I told him about some of my favourite artists like Richard Hell and Television, all the 70s CBGB’s classics. He began to walk round the shop with me, pointing out the punk memorabilia plastered on the shop walls and telling me his stories from over the years.

I left with a canvas of the Happy Mondays designed by mixed media artist Jimmy Jaamez. It is created with magazine cutouts, and looks incredibly smart.

Overall, another banging day at The Barras Markets.
